Pentax K-x

A Firmware Update 1.0.1 adds some new features listed in the Pentax note.
What a difference a year can make, it is already time for the K-m replacement called K-x. Only a year and yet so much new, live view, video recording with sound and colors, faster exposures – 4.7 eps, better autofocus, and almost more colors than dead cats, not 102 or 101, but still 100, since some of the 180 possible combinations was judged too aweful.

To begin with, only Japan will get the many possible colors, the rest of the world will have to make do with black, navy, red, and white. The logistics of offering hundreds of models internationally would be prohibitive at present. Perhaps some of the popular combinations will become available to the rest of us later.

Swedish Kamera & Bild sums things up nicely by naming the K-x as the best family camera right now. It gives the most image quality for the money. Despite featuring advanced functions it is easy to use. It is fast, works well at high ISOs, and has a good HD-film mode. On the downside are the the noicy shutter and focus, and the AA batteries.

Specials

A very special korejanairobo model of the K-x was presented at its launch. The extra colorful version was hand decorated by the master of the cute robot. Only 100 will be made of this limited version that will come with a toy robot.
